REM Karlsruhe: Building Global Connections Through Rotaract.

Rotaract Oslo International (RACOI) strengthened its international presence at the Rotaract Euro Meeting (REM), held in Karlsruhe, Germany from 10–13 September 2026. Representing our club were our Country Representative Vinod Kumar and our President Giselle Gómez, who joined Rotaractors from across Europe for four days that were as much about the heart as the mind -professional development, cultural exchange, and meaningful dialogue, all woven together with the connections and friendships that make Rotaract truly special.
The conference program addressed themes that resonated deeply with our community. A session on longevity and sustainable health offered valuable insight into wellbeing in professional life, while Rotary Peace Fellow Elise Nassif delivered a compelling and moving address on peace and youth engagement. A particularly notable workshop, "Rotaract in the Rotary Family," sparked genuine reflection on identity and shared responsibility within our organization.
The program extended well beyond the conference room, with a rich variety of activities on offer for delegates throughout the weekend — from city tours and a visit to Germany's Federal Constitutional Court, to a company visit to SAP's headquarters and a wine hike through the surrounding countryside, where conversation flowed as freely as the scenery changed. The Country-Booth evening at the Fleischmarkthalle brought clubs from across Europe together to share a piece of home, adding warmth and colour to a weekend already full of connection.
The weekend concluded with a joyful Gala Evening at the Stadthalle, a fitting close to an experience grounded in Rotaract's three core pillars: fellowship, service, and professional development.
Participation in international gatherings such as REM is one of the most valuable opportunities RACOI members can pursue. Beyond the professional insight, these events are, above all, about the people — the friendships formed over a shared meal or a long walk, and the sense of belonging that reminds us Rotaract is a family that spans borders.
We warmly encourage RACOI members interested in future international events to reach out to Giselle or Vinod to hear more about their experience in Karlsruhe. As our club continues to grow its international presence, we look forward to more of our members sharing in moments like these.
We look forward to the next REM, REM Cluj-Napoca, taking place from January 28th to 31st, 2027.
