Rotaract Oslo International (RACOI) was proud to take part in Welcome to Oslo: Community Day, one of the highlights of Welcome Week 2026. The event gave us a valuable opportunity to meet newcomers, internationals and locals looking for a community in their new home city, and to share what Rotaract is about: service, leadership and friendship across borders.

About Welcome Week 2026

Welcome Week is a nationwide initiative that took place across Norway from 21 to 27 September 2026. Throughout the week, organisations in cities and towns across the country hosted events to help newcomers and internationals explore, connect and feel at home. In the Oslo region alone, the programme ranged from guided hikes in the forests around the city and group bike rides to welcome evenings and practical workshops.

Welcome to Oslo: Community Day was the networking event at the centre of the Oslo programme. Organised by Oslo&Co, it brought together local clubs, volunteer organisations, sports teams and hobby groups under one roof, giving newcomers, expats and locals the chance to meet them in person, ask questions and find out how to get involved.

Our participation

At our stand, RACOI members welcomed visitors throughout the day and introduced them to Rotaract and the wider Rotary family. Many of the people we met had recently moved to Norway and were looking for ways to build a network, contribute to their local community and develop professionally at the same time.

Our conversations focused on what makes RACOI distinctive as an international club in Oslo:

  • An international membership of young professionals and students from many different countries

  • Service projects that give members the chance to make a practical difference in Oslo and beyond

  • Leadership and professional development through club roles, district events and international meetings

  • A close connection with Rotary, including our upcoming Rotary–Rotaract mentorship programme, which offers career mentoring and Norwegian language support

  • International friendship through our twinning with Rotaract Altona Hamburg and our participation in the Rotaract Europe Meeting (REM).

It was encouraging to see how many visitors were interested in combining community engagement with personal and professional growth.

To everyone who visited our stand: thank you for your time, your questions and your enthusiasm. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming meetings. A special thanks also goes to Oslo&Co for organising such a well-run and welcoming event.
